Businesses you can start in the university while studying Your career

What do Microsoft, Napster, Dell and Facebook have in common?
In addition to being part of the most famous companies of the last quarter of a century, they were all created by university students .
Did you know? Of course, not everyone can be the next Mark Zuckerberg, but starting a small business while studying is definitely possible.
There are many options that require little or no start up capital and can be done without having an office.
Studying at the University can help you form important contacts as well as help you pay for tuition, housing or expenses that arise.
In case you have been having in mind to start a business while studying in the university, but have no Idea of what type of business to start, campuspeep is here today to share with you some good ideas that can get that business started.

Here are ideas to start a business while you study the career:

1. Consultant in information technologies (IT)
IT is one of the few sectors where having too much experience can be counterproductive.
University students typically have fresher knowledge of new technologies.
If you do not feel confident promoting yourself as an IT consultant, inform your colleagues that you are open to helping them with their computer problems.
From there you can start generating a portfolio of clients.

2. Social media consultant
University students know exactly what the trends are in social networks, can you dispute that?
Of course NOT.
Use this knowledge and experience to advise small businesses on their digital strategy.
Take them beyond Facebook and LinkedIn by introducing other channels to make your messages known.

3. Graphic design
This business is based more on creativity and talent than on experience.
Students in this career should take their best schoolwork to build their portfolio, design their business cards well and build a website.
And from there, start calling customers.

4. Website design
Young people are more exposed to digital design tools.
Many have already done so for school projects or personal blogs.
These sites can be used as examples to show small clients who will give you extra money and experience.

5. Photography
Thanks to platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook, the world is getting used to using still images to communicate.
With the increasing need for visual content, the demand for amateur photographers has also increased.
Thanks to the technology, these works can have a lot of quality, something much wanted by small businesses.

6. Event Planning
College students attend more parties than any other public and even if you do not believe it, you can use this experience in a business.
Planning an event requires attention to detail, organization, the ability to do more than one thing at a time and creativity.
If you have these qualities, start a business at your school and become the person you have to turn to to plan important activities.
Remember that you can (and should) professionalize your work with each business.

7. Personal trainer
Personal trainers have flexible schedules and can work almost anywhere.
Investigate what type of certification is required in your locality to be able to exercise this alternate activity.

8. Makeup Artist
There are more and more women in universities, a challenge that exists in most Latin American countries. This offers the perfect opportunity to start a small business focused on the female audience.
Make-up artists can earn money by helping their mates get ready before big events.
They can even achieve fame through videotutorials of make-up in social networks (especially in YouTube).
Good content attracts followers to videos as well as juicy sponsorships.

9. Gardening
It is a good business that you can take during the holidays. Your peers’ parents, your parent’s friends or even your campus neighbors can be great customers.
Do not forget that even if it is a business that you start in college, it is still a real business (which carries with it real risks and benefits).
Regardless of what you do, you must exercise it with the maximum professionalism possible, have warranty policies and if possible, insurance.
The important thing is that these businesses will help you pay your debts and open the door for a stronger future venture.

For these 10 reasons you are not a millionaire (yet) – No. 9 Is So Shocking

Many people desperately want to be millionaires, but they do not succeed.
Although money does not buy happiness, it can help to have a less stressed life.
To be a millionaire, you need to have the right strategy and know why you have not yet succeeded.
All people who want to be millionaire but have not made it have excuses: “I did not choose the right career”, “I could not go to expensive schools”, “I do not have the time”, etcetera.

Here are 10 real reasons why you are not a millionaire.

1. You do not have the right guide
You need to surround yourself with positive people. More importantly, you need to find someone you can trust to guide you in the right direction.
The people you trust the most must be those who push you on the road to success.

2. You are not willing to make sacrifices
My father said that you can not always have “fifth, balloon and sweet”. Sometimes we have to give up things. If you are not able to sacrifice fun time to focus on your career, then you will never have the financial success you are looking for.

3. You fear failure
Do not hesitate, you will fail, make mistakes and you have to learn to overcome it. If you are afraid of making a mistake, you will never do anything.

4. Your goals are not clear and neither are your actions
If you do not have a goal in mind and a plan of action to achieve it, you will never be a millionaire. Take the time to plan and do things right.

5. You think success is for other people
You must believe that you will succeed. Visualize yourself as the successful person you envy. If you really can imagine this and believe that it can happen, you will get one step closer to your goal.

6. You believe that your past avoids success
Neither your education nor your family history can distract you from triumph. NOTHING can do it.

7. You are not using the internet
The web has transformed the world and will continue to do so. If you are not using it, you are not taking advantage of the strongest tool that currently exists.

8. Forget that money can give you freedom
Maybe wealth does not buy happiness, but if it can help you to be freer to do what you truly want to do. Let that be your motivation.

9. You get together with the wrong people
The people around you should be your support system. They should help you stay focused and positive. Your group of friends and family should not be distracting or negative forces. If they are, you must get new friends.

10. Betting on the lottery instead of improving your skills
Forming a skills system is better for you in the long run than wagering everything you have to a game of chance. Sure, it takes more time and effort, but it will help you achieve your goal.
Keep these reasons in mind as long as you are striving to achieve a professional achievement. You will see what you are capable of when you remove these distractors from your path.

Before you abandon a university career, read this Article!

The path to graduate in the career you have chosen is not always free of obstacles.
If you are considering dropping everything, your reasons will seem more than valid to give up, but before you leave the class, consider the following points and probably your reasons for leaving a university career will begin to lose weight.

1. You have psychological support – Any pressing event in your personal life has a solution.
Two heads think better than one. If an event starts to impede you to finish your studies, it is always good to go with your career counselor or the university’s psychological team, who are sure to help you deal with situations that seem to shut the world down, and give you options for fix them and keep you in the race.

2. There are scholarships – Yes, the monetary issue is essential in your studies, but it should not be the trigger at some point to abandon a university career.
Find out about the scholarship options you have, which also means that you are practically obligated to maintain a high level of knowledge and skills that in the long run will benefit only you.
Look for a part-time job and / or discuss with your family the possibility of obtaining a loan from a financial institution.

3. Your life project must be sustained – The reality is that if you are thinking of giving up everything, less money, you probably are not clear where your life is going.
Believe it, for your sake, it is better that you have enough courage to sit down to design it for the future, and if that design is imperative to go to college, then put all your creativity to work so that, rather than looking for excuses to abandon a university career, find options to move forward.

4. Your talents and gifts should be expressed – If they fall within the scope of studies you get in college classrooms, you should not leave them without the tools at their disposal to make them shine, and those tools may consist of new knowledge, techniques of which you have no idea, personal visions that your teachers can give you and even enrich your talents and that you only find in the university.

5. Knowledge is power – With talent and vocation you have enormous potential.
All the information you receive in classrooms is to get the best architect – for example – in you. Of you it will depend if you disdain it and you choose a more arduous road as it is the one of the autodidact one.

6. Years of study before college should not be in vain – So give them a sense and think that you are closer to finishing the career than when you entered kindergarten.

7. You love what you can do – If you already saw yourself in your future earning money for doing what you love, because what you do is part of your happiness, motivate yourself to finish your career remembering that if you leave it you have a high probability of being as simple amateur.

8. You have a vocation – You will find less resistance when it comes to finding a place so that you can exercise it.
If you decided to leave your career even if you only had a few months left to complete it, it will be hard for you to see that even if you have more vocation and talent than someone with a degree, they will give priority to him in the labor field and not you. Your chances of finding a job decrease.

9. You need economic autonomy – Perhaps you do not know, but all your years of study in the end more than a tool for your survival, are directed to a full life.
And part of it entails absolute ownership of the money earned via your talent.
Do not abandon your career, and over the years you sol @ you will realize what we talked about. To know the power that gives you economic independence , you will only know it if you prove it.

10. You deserve a decent life – You are a person and it is your right to live in the best conditions.
Before leaving your career, think that only you will be complicating this possibility if you do.

11. You could help others – Observe your environment, perhaps the career you are studying through you, in the future, could generate some kind of progress. Your society needs you.

12. Someday you will have family – Or someone you love whom you will have to support, and such support well that could come from the obtained thanks to your university career. Without it, do you have a better way to do it?.

13. You will be an inspiration to others – If you come from the lower social strata, ask yourself how much better you will live if you have a career and think how beneficial it would be for the new generations of your environment to take inspiration from you so that they, in turn, the hope of a better life.

14. The world is great – Knowing other countries and other people will be easier if you are required elsewhere thanks to your university career.

15. Concluding is easy – Do you know why?
Because you can! Because within you there is the capacity for decision, will and discipline necessary to achieve it.

Positioning Yourself For An Outstanding Career As a Student

Choosing a right career is very important. Naturally, we know that studying a course in the university does not guarantee you the same line of employment after graduation. There are graduates of Engineering who work in medical labs, banks, accounting departments, procurement departments etc , while some work in places of zero interest especially teaching. This cut across all fields of study.

Our Educational system has been designed in such a way that only graduates of higher institutions are relevant in our society
This is exactly why about 1.7 million candidates and above will continue to jostle to enter higher institutions for 500 thousand admission spaces every year.(According to 2016-2017 jamb statistics). Our parents should endeavor to evaluate their children, know their potentials and set them on the right track for the future that awaits them.
The following groups are responsible for career development.

– Parents
Primarily, the children are supposed to be equipped with the right knowledge from the home, the parents should always relate with their children, checkmate them on their studies, know their abilities and weaknesses.

Parents should not choose career path for their children but they should counsel them on the relevant courses according to their potentials. for instance I know of a family who want their child to study medicine so that he can actually take over from the father, this is not right, Why are you killing our potentials?
-School
The school also affects our students positively or negatively depending on which path they chose. Schools should be able to organize capacity building & career programs for the students, like I did attend one while in senior secondary school, this should be done every term in our secondary schools. They should also check the students in their studies. The best teacher is always a friend not only to the brains in the class but also a friend to the weak ones, they don’t neglect the weak ones but encourage them.
-Students
This is the last determinant of a reputable career. The students should always think well before choosing any career, identify your personal skills (what are you best in doing), Assess your skills, identify your goals, check your capacity, explore on the courses and ask, check your hobbies( this can turn into a career e.g sports, research , journalism etc
The best thing is not to regret studying a course, If you find yourself in a course you don’t like, try and pick interest and develop yourself to suit the course, if it is difficult to do then drop it. If you don’t build yourself others will hire you to build theirs.
Let us always be determined, hardworking and resilience in our studies. ” Free the child’s potential and you will transform him into the world” ( Maria Montessori)
I still believe that the youths remain the leaders of tomorrow and that tomorrow has come.

10 Rated benefits of Studying Abroad / Overseas

“It will change your life. You’ll come back a new person.” For years, the benefitsof study abroad have been described in these words. Everyone in the study abroad field believed it could greatly impact a student’s life, but the exact long-term benefits were unknown – until now.
The first large-scale survey to explore the long-term impact of study abroad on a student’s personal, professional, and academic life shows that study abroad positively and unequivocally influences the career path, world-view, and self-confidence of students.
The Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) surveyed alumni from all IES study abroad programs from 1950 to 1999. Regardless of where students studied and for how long, the data from the more than 3,400 respondents (a 23 percent response rate) shows that studying abroad is usually a defining moment in a young person’s life and continues to impact the participant’s life for years after the experience.

Studying abroad may be one of the most beneficial experiences for a college student. By studying abroad, students have the opportunity to study in a foreign nation and take in the allure and culture of a new land. Here is a list of the top 10 reasons to study abroad!

1. See the World
The biggest reason you should consider a study abroad program is the opportunity to see the world . By studying abroad, you will experience a brand-new country with incredible new outlooks, customs and activities. The benefits of studying abroad include the opportunity to see new terrains, natural wonders, museums and landmarks of your host nation.
In addition, when you’re abroad, you won’t be limited to traveling in just the nation in which you are studying – you can see neighboring countries as well! For example, if you study in France, you’ll have the option to travel through various parts of Europe including London , Barcelona , and Rome.

2. Education
Another reason you might consider studying abroad is for the chance to experience different styles of education. By enrolling in a study abroad program, you’ll have the chance to see a side of your major that you may not have been exposed to at home.
You’ll find that completely immersing yourself in the education system of your host country is a great way to really experience and understand the people, its traditions, and its culture. Education is the centerpiece of any study abroad trip—it is, after all, a study abroad program—and choosing the right school is a very important factor.

3. Take in a New Culture
Many students who choose to study abroad are leaving their home for the first time. When they arrive in their new host country, they are fascinated by the distinct cultural perspectives. When you study abroad you will find incredible new foods, customs, traditions, and social atmospheres.
You will find that you have a better understanding and appreciation for the nation’s people and history. You will have the opportunity to witness a completely new way of life.

4. Hone Your Language Skills
Chances are if you’re planning on studying abroad, one of the major draws is the opportunity to study a foreign language. Studying abroad grants you the opportunity to completely immerse yourself in a new language, and there is no better way to learn than to dive right in.
In addition to the considerable language practice you will get just in day to day life, your host university will likely offer language courses to provide you with a more formal education. Immerse yourself in a new culture and go beyond a purely academic experience.

5. Career Opportunities
When you finish your study abroad program and return home, you will return with a new perspective on culture, language skills, a great education, and a willingness to learn. Needless to say, all of these are very attractive to future employers.
Many students find that they love their host country so much that they decide to seek work there. If you can relate, you will find that a local education will be very valuable when searching for a potential job in that country.

6. Intercultural Development
Study abroad educators often assert that one of the goals of study abroad is to train future global leaders to be more effective, respectful of other cultures and political and economic systems, and willing to take a stand for the world’s welfare, not just what benefits a specific country. The survey findings indicate that study abroad is succeeding in its mission.
When questioned about intercultural development, 98 percent of respondents said that study abroad helped them to better understand their own cultural values and biases, and 82 percent replied that study abroad contributed to their developing a more sophisticated way of looking at the world.
“The experience of living and studying in another country was so eye-opening … [it] tested preconceptions and habits I wasn’t even aware were so ingrained in me,” says Cynthia Perras (IES Paris, 1981).
It is significant to note that these intercultural benefits are not fleeting but continue to impact participants’ lives long after their time abroad. Almost all of the respondents (94 percent) reported that the experience continues to influence interactions with people from different cultures, and 23 percent still maintain contact with host-country friends. Ninety percent said that the experience influenced them to seek out a greater diversity of friends, and 64 percent said that it also influenced them to explore other cultures.

“It has been nearly ten years since I was a student in Vienna, but not a single day goes by where its impact is not felt in my life,” says Jason Thornberg (IES Vienna, 1994). “My time there fundamentally changed how I view the world and has given me the ability to view the world, and its issues, from several perspectives.”

7. Find New Interests
If you are still questioning why to study abroad, you should know that studying in a different country offers many new activities and interests that you may never have discovered if you’d stayed at home. You might find that you have an as-yet undiscovered talent for hiking, water sports, snow skiing, golf, or various other new sports you may never have tried back home.
You’ll also have the chance to discover other new and exciting forms of entertainment. Plays, movies, dancing, nightclubs, and concerts are just a few activities that you can enjoy.

8. Make Lifelong Friends
One of the biggest benefits of studying abroad is the opportunity to meet new lifelong friends from different backgrounds. While studying abroad, you will attend school and live with students from your host country. This gives you the opportunity to really get to know and create lasting relationships with your fellow students.
After the study abroad program ends, make an effort stay in contact with your international friends. In addition to rewarding personal relationships, these friends can also be important networking tools later down the road.

9. Personal Development
There is nothing quite like being on your own in a foreign country. You might find that studying abroad really brings out your independent nature. Students who study abroad become explorers of their new nation and really discover the curiosity and excitement that they harbor.

A benefit to studying abroad is the opportunity to discover yourself while gaining an understanding of a different culture. Being in a new place by yourself can be overwhelming at times, and it tests your ability to adapt to diverse situations while being able to problem solve.

10. Graduate School Admissions
Like future employers, graduate school admissions boards look very highly on study abroad experiences. Students that study abroad display diversity and show that they aren’t afraid to seek out new challenges or put themselves in difficult situations.
Most importantly, students who have studied abroad show just how committed they are to their education. Graduate schools regularly look for candidates who will bring a unique aspect to their university. Students who have studied abroad have shown that they have the curiosity and educational acumen to be a leader in graduate school.

Hints: How to be free from these Six career Fears

The most common workplace fears or career fears apparently sounds too simple for others to understand. Yet, for the one nurturing that fear, it must need a lot of courage and the willingness to overcome the fear, to be able to face it.
Thinking ahead to your future, we’ve tackled 5 career fears to help put your mind to rest.

1. My CV won’t be good enough.

This is a very common fear! It’s understandable because most of us will have to create at least one CV in our lifetime and for some reason they do not always teach it at school. The greatest way to go about ensuring that your CV will stand out to a recruiter is to do your research. Search the internet for templates, see whether your industry prefers a certain format, check it time and time again for spelling and grammar errors and have someone else look at it for you as well.
The point of a CV is to show yourself off to potential employers and to especially showcase the relevant experience/skills/passions you have in regards to the role you are applying for. Once you’re okay with it, then be confident that your CV will sell you to the right job.

2. What if I don’t present myself well at interviews
Quite simply, the more preparation you can do – the better! Interviews aren’t so complicated. When you realise that 80% of the decision to hire someone is based on what the interviewers see and hear on the day and only about 20% is based on what is in your CV/qualifications, it then becomes easier to go through an interview phase and claim your prized job.
Here are some universal guidelines on how to behave in job interviews.
Make sure you wear smart clothes
Be polite and professional to everyone you meet
Have a mental note of questions you think your interviewer is likely to ask you
Think your response through before speaking
If you keep to these guidelines and fit their requirements for the role, you should have a good chance at receiving an offer.

3. There’s too much competition for the job I want
There will always be competition, that is just a fact of life. There are very few jobs where you’ll be the sole candidate. Job seeking is a fine art, and the more you experience you have, the better you’ll get at it. This is not to say that people don’t get it right at first trial. Try to look for ways that you are unique, such as hobbies that could help you in the role you are hoping to get or a personality trait that fits the role perfectly. Personalise your CV and cover letter for each new job you apply for, and don’t look down on yourself for receiving a few knock-backs. Having a positive attitude and never giving up will eventually land you the job you want!

4. I’ll end up in the wrong job
Many younger people experience a sense of disappointment when work doesn’t live up to their expectations. Graduates start their career in law or finance expecting a high-flying, glamourous life-style, and end up despondent when they are filling in spreadsheets until 2am.
During our lifetime we spend a staggering 99,117 hours at work, so it’s important that you enjoy your job! It’s highly unlikely that you’ll stay in one role for your entire working life – the average is 6 jobs across 6 different companies according to one study. Use your time constructively to learn a little more every day. Learn how to talk on the phone, learning how to use social media, learn how to think before you act. Reach out to people who are older and choose a mentor. Try to see this as a time of great learning. You need to remember that you have all this time to settle on a job you love doing, so there’s no need to panic.

5. I can be haphazard. What if I get fired?
Anybody who works in a fearful environment knows it. You’re feeling anxious about going into work. You have bosses who are bullying and aggressive. It’s not necessarily loud – you can have a very aggressive boss who is very quiet, very able to read body language and manipulate people. In a fearful environment people stop being creative, it becomes more about surviving rather than thriving.
If you trust your boss you could talk to them about your fears. But if you constantly feel stress or under pressure you might want to rethink your job. I work with people who are very happy at work until they get a new manager, and that produces all kinds of anxieties.
If you work in a healthy organsation but can’t shake this fear, you need to look inside yourself and understand what your personal triggers are. You might have a boss you dislike, but if you dig deep enough, it comes from something else in the past that is triggering something today. The brain is always working on survival and danger, so the brain will respond to perceived threats even if there isn’t really a threat.
