Love Tips: 10 rules to make your marriage last
You may have asked yourself this question before: 'what makes a marriage last (and last)?'
To answer this age-old question, family sociologist, Karl Pillemer (PhD), launched the largest in-depth survey of long-married couples ever conducted, interviewing 700 people who had been hitched an average of 43 years.
Love Tips: 6 qualities of a successful marriage
Many people get married to someone they love with the hope that the bond will last forever.
Of course, with deliberate efforts from the two people involved, the bond will surely last forever.
However, if the couple in question don't work on their marriage, there may be ups and downs which might eventually ruin the union.
There are some positive habits that lead to a successful marriage, and if cultivated, could lead to a blissful marital home.
Here are some of those habits that lead to a successful marriage:
- Accept differences: This is one of the tips for a happy marriage. After marriage, the first thing we all come to know is the fact that we are all different. We tend to have different habits and different preferences. So, if you dislike your partner's habits or preferences, you will generally try to change him or her. But if you can accept the differences without trying to change the other person, the the bond will last longer.
- Kiss often: This is one of the habits for a healthy marriage. After the honey moon phase of the marriage is over, couples generally get busy with their lives and gradually they will ignore romance. Marriage is not only about sharing responsibilities. It is also about romance and it must be kept alive. So, kissing each other often will help a lot. And the best part is: kissing isn't time consuming!
- Discuss before taking decisions: Taking one-sided decisions is generally unhealthy after you are married. If you discuss everything with your spouse and then take a decision, your spouse will be very happy and this will help you reduce disagreements too.
- Talk about your days: After work, when you are unwinding, it is good to talk about your day with your spouse. It helps you bond well. Sharing your highs and lows with your partner helps a lot in establishing the bond.
- Give priority: This is one of the habits for a successful marriage. If you give the first priority to your marriage and give everything else the second place, your marriage will surely work; forever.
- Gratitude: There is nothing wrong in thanking your spouse for everything he or she does. In fact, this will help you strengthen the bond. This is one of the habits for a happy marriage.
Ghana Food Importers Call For Equal Taxation
The Frozen Food Importers Association of Ghana wants government to grant its members preferential values for duty or taxes charged on imported products at the ports.
According to them, government has subsidized taxes on imported products for one company, thereby creating unfair competition in the frozen foods industry.
The industry will be hit by massive layoffs and fold-ups if this is not checked.
Its members, who double as owners of companies, are unable to pay workers.
In a letter addressed to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the association argued that the situation has created wide disparity in the value regime and undermined competition in the industry.
Vice President of the Frozen Food Importers Association of Ghana, Charles K. Ansah, said government must endeavor to ensure all players pay equal duties at the ports to prevent further collapse of the affected companies.
“The industry is confronted with 35 percent tax so the tax issues are very disturbing to begin with. It must be on record that if you look at it, it is not realistic. So that is actually what is crippling most of us in the industry and the fact that it is giving another person the leverage makes the story totally different altogether. For poultry product it is 35 plus 17.5%.”
“So our position now has been made loud and clear; let us all pay same duty across board until we come out with realistic duty for all the players in the industry.”
Trending: Airtel, Tigo Workers Anxious
Some workers of Airtel and Tigo are voluntarily leaving the merged entity after the regulator; the National Communications Authority (NCA) approved the merger, Citi Business News has gathered.
On October 13, 2017, the Managing Director of Tigo, Roshi Motman, was named as the new CEO of the merged entity, following the resignation of the MD of Airtel Lucy Quist.
Even though the merged entity is yet to come out with a new directive on the number of workers that will be retained, some have begun making moves to exit the entity.
According to them, the new entity has created a situation that may require one person occupying some top management positions even though the two companies already have people in those positions.
For example, it was known that the merged entity will have one Managing Director, hence the exit of the Managing Director of Airtel, Madam Lucy Quist.
The situation is expected to run through the top management positions of the new entity.
Labour Expert, Mr. Austin Gamey believes the need to cut down on the workforce may be due to new strategies.
All over the world, mergers and takeovers among business entities have brought some level of restructuring that have left some workers losing their jobs.
On August 3rd 2008, global telecom company Vodafone acquired 70 percent stake in Ghana telecom.
The move resulted in a massive restructuring that left some workers being laid off.
